Activities

Challenge Course

The high ropes challenge course stretches your limits and lets you climb higher. The course takes you high into the trees to cross cables, fly down high-speed parallel zip-lines, and swing through the trees from as high as 25 meters. Scale the four-sided climbing tower, leap from a telephone pole, or rappel from the top of a tree! The course is open as weather permits and as interest is shown. Students receive training in the safe use and leadership of the various elements from the qualified staff.

Skate Park

The camp's skate park is open to Kaléo students when the weather permits and campers and retreaters are not using it. The park features two outdoor half-pipes and a variety of ramps, rails, and drops. Bring your own board and protective gear and challenge your skills.

Waterfront

Qwanoes is the only residence beside the protected coastal waters of Smith Bay in the heart of the Gulf Islands. During the months of September and October, the weather usually allows the waterfront to be open a few times for activities like swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding, canoeing, windsurfing, fishing, and other water sports.

Mountain Biking and Hiking

Miles of parks and forest reserve surround Qwanoes where you can bike and hike. Students are welcome to bring their own mountain bikes (and helmets) and tour around. The camp often has a limited number of almost-new mountain bikes, used during summer camp, that Kaléo students can buy.

Team Sports

There are lots of team sports for students to participate in for a little competition. There is a beach volleyball court, and a sports court for street hockey and basketball. When the weather is cooler, the action is taken inside for gym nights.

Fitness Centre

The fitness centre is equipped with a universal gym, stationary bikes, step machines, and more. Ping-pong and foosball tables are available in the lounge areas.
