Adventure Trips
S.A.L.T.S. Sail Trip
The year starts out with an incredible five-day trip onboard the Pacific Grace, a 130-foot gaff-rigged schooner. The ship was built by S.A.L.T.S. (Sail and Life Training Society) at their shipyard in Victoria, BC, and is equipped with the latest navigational and safety features. S.A.L.T.S. is a non-profit Christian organization that is dedicated to teaching traditions that are too valuable to be forgotten. Visit www.salts.ca to find out more about S.A.L.T.S.
Mount Washington Snow Trip
Halfway through the year students take a trip to Mount Washington for a time of reflection, connection, and a chance to look ahead. Mount Washington is about two hours north of Qwanoes on Vancouver Island. The mountain boasts one of the highest average snowfalls of any ski hill in North America and has a vertical rise of 505 meters. Beginners and experts alike are kept busy with the alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and luge. At the end of the day, students kick back and relax in their chalet right on the hill. Lift tickets, rentals, and food for this trip are included in the Kaléo fees.
Short Out-trips and Day-trips
Students also participate in several one to three-night trips throughout the year. These may include backpacking in the mountains of Strathcona Park, coldwater surfing on the beaches of Tofino, whitewater kayaking, sleeping in snow caves, bungee jumping and much more. The trips are led by Kaléo leaders and professional instructors, who have extensive experience in outdoor activities and Wilderness First Aid training.
