Kaléo Leaders
The leaders of the Kaléo Program are Qwanoes staff who have a deep love for God and the specific mission of Kaléo: developing young people into solid Christian leaders as they engage in academics, ministry, leadership, community, and adventures. Each of them has a deep passion to walk with and for their students in these extremely formative years.
The Kaléo Leadership Team includes the Kaléo Leader, Assistant Kaléo Leader, and two Student Life Assistants (SLAs). These leaders have been chosen for their education, ministry experience, and leadership capabilities to ensure they model and teach biblical leadership. These leaders are invested in and committed to the Kaléo Program throughout the 8-month Program to support and guide students.
The Kaléo Leader provides guidance for the program, leads chapels and Leadership Workshops, ensures safety on the adventures, coordinates classes with Briercrest Professors, and oversees the rest of the Kaléo Leadership team.
The Assistant Kaléo Leader helps lead and organize adventures, classes, chapels, and mission trips while providing mentorship to students. They are an extension of the Kaléo Leader, ensuring that all 5 components of the program run smoothly.
The Student Life Assistants (SLAs) walk closely with students by going on coffee dates, running weekly small groups, helping lead adventures and mission trips, and living on the same floor as students. The SLAs are former students who can relate to current students across all components of the program.
Staff
Jacob Adams

Kaléo Program Leader
For several years, Jacob has been walking alongside young men and women as they find their identity, gifts, and passions in Jesus. He is an alumnus of the Kaléo Program and graduated from Briercrest College and Seminary with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies. Playing board games, hiking, basketball, and conversations over some good food are some of Jacob’s favourite pastimes.
Lauren Adams

Assistant Kaléo Program Leader
Lauren is excited to walk with the Kaléo students as they spend their year growing in their faith and listening to God’s guidance as they experience community and discipleship together. She graduated from Briercrest College and Seminary with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry, and has served in Children’s and Youth ministries. Lauren loves forming community by hosting, being creative, and enjoying the outdoors in good company.
Nathan Bradshaw

Student Life Assistant
Nathan did Kaléo 3 years ago as a student and was deeply impacted by the community and the growth he experienced. Last year he did a Worship Arts certificate at Summit Pacific College and is excited to bring that passion of learning about God and Worship into Kaléo as an SLA. Some things that get Nathan excited are playing worship music, singing, deep chats, biking, hammocking and board games.
Alisha Yakiwchuk

Student Life Assistant
Now in her 5th year on staff at Qwanoes, Alisha is thrilled to step into the Kaléo SLA role this year. Being a graduate of the program herself, she understands the depth and importance that this year holds in the life of a young person. Though she has many passions, what brings her the most joy is connecting & having deep conversations with people over a good cup of coffee! From kayaking to community care, Alisha is ready to walk (or hike!) alongside students as they discover God’s calling on their life.
