Ministry Experience
The Kaléo program emphasizes “learning and doing” by providing students with opportunities to apply their learning on an ongoing basis through camp ministry, church ministry, and missions
Camp Ministry

After completing a course in Camp and Youth Ministry, students assist in running camp retreats. Serving as camp counsellors, in food services, or as activity leaders, students will help make a difference in a camp ministry setting.
Church Ministry

While taking a course in Foundations of Church Ministry, students have the opportunity to serve in a local church throughout the year. Students may join worship teams, help lead youth groups, or participate in children’s ministry, all while growing as active participants in their local churches.
Kaléo's church partners are:
- Community Gospel Chapel (Salt Spring Island, BC)
- Departure Bay Baptist Church (Nanaimo, BC)
- Duncan Pentecostal Church (Duncan, BC)
- The Meeting Place Church (Nanaimo, BC)
- Oceanview Community Church (Ladysmith, BC)
- Valley Church (Duncan, BC)
Missions

Students have numerous opportunities to participate in local outreach events throughout the year. Students will have the opportunity to participate in one of two cross-cultural mission trips serving in East Hastings, Vancouver or in Vicente Guerrero, Mexico. Both mission trips occur simultaneously in mid-February for two weeks, partnering with organizations that are bringing light to these communities. Students and leaders will intentionally discern in prayer and listening for where God is calling them to serve.
